What are some well respected plugins for mac (knowing about Fabfilter, NI Komplete stuff), that are affordable, solid, iLok-free and having a clean design with not too many parameters?Īlready love and use Valhalla for reverb, now looking for some character EQs (no workhorses like Pro-Q), compressors, filter, Roland style chorus, phaser. UAD would be my selection if it wasn't for at least 700 Euros that I have to spend for the hardware only (Satellite Duo).
But they use iLok, which puts them on very unstable ground, thanks to this type of protection the whole of Softube becomes unreliable. I chose Softube as their plugins seem solid, great sounding, good looking and are affordable. In the meantime, I might want to look around alternatives. I have a few weeks left to do so, but I'm pretty sure it will go back. I still have the Trident A-Range here unpacked and ready to return the dealer. However, the iLok fiasco makes me want to drop the plan. I decided to build a Softube plugin collection a while ago and began with a Mix Bundle, and now wanted to add a Trident A-Range.
